Vintage Focus - who?

Updated: Nov 14, 2023

Hi there – this is our first blog post that we have made since setting up Vintage Focus and since we have launched our website.

In this first blog I wanted to cover off who we are and what we are hoping to achieve with Vintage Focus.

Who are we?

We are Kate and Nigel. Kate is an artist by profession and Nigel a Sports Photographer. As with a lot of people that went to art and technical colleges in the 1980/90s we both learnt to shoot film cameras and process and develop film. Over the last couple of years we have moved back into shooting film and experimenting with different cameras. This experimenting lead to the camera collection growing rather larger than originally planned. This growth in the collection then forced the need to move some of the Cameras on to able to have some space in the house, and hence Vintage Focus was born. Many of the cameras on sale have been shot by us in the past.

Where do we sell?

We have a pop up stall and we sell cameras at vintage and brocante markets through London, Hampshire and Surrey. Along with that we have now set up this website to provide cameras and lenses to people in the UK that cannot visit us in person.

What is our offering?

Firstly we want you to be happy with anything that you buy from us. Unless explicitly stated all of the stock that we have on the website has been tested and checked and the photos are of the item that you will receive. For cameras this would involve a film test, and if required light seals etc being replaced. Secondly, we want to promote film shooting. It could be that you are an experienced film shooter looking to move on to a different camera, or maybe try a different film format (such as medium format), or move you want to move on from a point and shoot to an SLR. Perhaps you haven’t shot film in the past, but love the look of the images and would like to be seen with a film camera around! Whatever it is that you are looking for we want you to be happy, we don’t want you to buy something that is not right, doesn’t work properly, or that you won’t get the most out of. We are always happy for you to drop us an email at sales@vintagefocus.co.uk to let us know what you are looking for and we can offer some advice!

We are also always on the look out for new stock, so if we don’t have something on the website, let us know and we will keep an eye out for it.

So that’s it for this first blog, a quick introduction about us and Vintage Focus we hope to hear from you soon.
